One of the most versatile, widely known and used essential oils around the world, essential oil of lavender - has been historically used for its purifying and soothing benefits; its nurturing energy, powerful yet gentle action makes this oil truly “essential” to any home apothecary or first aid kit, as it can be used safely and effectively with infants, children and adults alike.

It's commonly used to comfort, promote recovery and is known to revive the spirit and calm the mind.  It can be added to personal care products for fragrance, cleansing and moisturizing.

BACKGROUND

Lavandula angustifolia has been known in the past as Lavandula officinalis or Lavandula vera; usually though, it's referred to as Common or English Lavender.

Most people assume that lavender is lavender is lavender. They would likely be surprised to know that this beautiful flowering herb can bloom in a variety of shades of white, pink, blue, and light to deep purple flowers.

Unfortunately, the aroma of lavender is often imitated by inexpensive frangrances and frangranced products that are not only toxic - they don't provide the same soothing benefits.

Many people assume that essential oil of Lavender comes from France - but as the world of essential oils has evolved, we now find that Bulgaria is the largest producer of Lavender oil in the world - so even French Lavender will typically incorporate some Bulgarian lavender.
